Robert Jenkins is the third generation of his family to farm at Cilhaul near Trefeglwys in Powys. The farmhouse and buildings, where Robert lives with wife Fiona and their four children, lie close to the Afon Trannon. Their son, Edward, also works on the home farm. The 1300 acres of the farm extend along the valley floor up the steep slopes of the southern side onto rolling hills that peak at over 1200 feet.
The beef herd includes four bulls, three Charolais and one Hereford, and 120 suckler cows with calves. It will be Hereford cross beef that is sold under the Cambrian Beef brand.
The sheep flock on the farm includes 2400 breeding ewes and 750 ewe lambs. These are mostly Welsh Mules and Texels. Much of the lamb produced is sold under the Welsh Lamb label of a quality national retailer.
The farm takes part in Glastir, the Welsh Governments sustainable land management scheme, and includes some areas of specially planted woodland.
